Testimonials:
What Parents are Saying

We just wanted to say thank you in small way to let you know how much you are appreciated, and how much Traci enjoyed TANOSHII camp. This was her 3rd summer attending camp, and she enjoyed every minute of it. She is sad that she will be too old to attend next summer.
Who knows, maybe in a few years she may try to come back as a counselor! Many thanks again for such an outstanding program!

This was Kaela's first year to participate in the camp. She had a wonderful time and learned a tremendous amount about the Japanese and Japanese American culture. We will definitely sign up again next year. Already planning to come early for sign-up.

My one request, I have a 5 1/2 year old son – Kai. I wish that the camp extended to younger children, too!

I am so impressed at how well organized and efficiently run all aspect of the camp. You and your team's hard work definitely shines through.

Thanks for a terrific experience for Kaela.

My daughter loved tanoshii camp! The first day, when I came home from work, she had a sign up that said "Tanabata Lessons - inspired by tanoshii" It was really cute, she taught me how to make everything and we displayed it in our house.
The obon towels were really awesome, she wants to dance obon at the buddhist church this year so she can wear it!
It was great to hear her talk about the relatives & friends that passed as she wrote their names on the tags for the lantern.
She had nothing but good things to say, and especially loves her counselors and teachers.
Thank you for the great opportunity... One last comment, Leini said, "I am definitely going to be a counselor when I'm a teenager!" :)

Thanks for a great week. Once again, Abby & Molly Yamamoto enjoyed Tanoshii Camp.

In Paige's words, "Tanoshii was awesome!". She came home each night excited to share the activities of the day. She said all the counselor's and adults were very nice.
She enjoyed learning Japanese words and had a blast doing the skits. "They made them really funny," she said. Paige definitely wants to participate again next summer.

My boys had a great time at camp all while learning a little bit about Japanese culture and making new friends. Add to that that the camp was well organized, and that you and all the other counselors watched out for their safety and kept their behavior in check - what more could a parent ask for?

The only thing I can think of to suggest is offering "more" of what you're already offering. With all the work involved in finding and training the counselors/volunteers, and setting up the curriculum and schedule, I can't help but wonder why you don't offer another session. Based on the number of people willing to line up early at the JCI to register, I'm guessing there might be enough interest to fill another 1 week session. And that way, even more children would have the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture.

Also, related to "more", if anyone would consider it, I know there are some of us who would be interested in a similar camp for the middle school children. I know there's Camp Musubi in downtown, but it's inconvenient for some and for those who work full-time, it's just not a viable option.

Anyway, please keep up the great work! Please take my suggestion for "more" as a great compliment. And, thank you, thank you, thank you!

I just wanted to let you know that my son, Sean Yamaguchi, really enjoyed his week at Tanoshii camp! It was his first year attending and he already stated that he'd like to return next summer.

I was amazed at all the wonderful crafts they did and how much they got exposed to in just the one week! The family tree project was a a good idea, which I wish we had done years ago. It's harder now to find relatives to ask questions to and get all the necessary details.

Thanks for organizing such a wonderful camp, we truly enjoyed it and will see you next year!

Thank you so much for the opportunity for my daughter to experience such a wonderful camp. It is so nice for her to learn about her culture. I am a Sansei and my parents raised me very American. They were both effected by the war. I am trying to teach her what I can about her culture but I am sure that I am not as creative. She had great time. Thank you to you and all of the staff.

Owen had a great time. Thanks again for everything. I am looking forward to sending all the kids there when they are old enough.
